Author name: Norma Tive

Norma Tive has spent the better part of two decades explaining to engineers why "we test it by feel" is not a documented inspection method. A veteran of more audits than she can cares to count, Norma writes about ISO 13485 with the weary authority of someone who has personally issued a CAPA for having too many CAPAs. When she's not finding nonconformances in other people's procedures, she enjoys jigsaw puzzles (completed in strict sequence, never by feel), alphabetizing her spice rack, and writing SOPs for activities most people do instinctively. Her risk management philosophy: if you have to ask whether it needs to be documented -- document it.

We Meant to Service That!

ISO 13485 §6.3 treats your buildings, equipment, and supporting systems as part of the quality system — not background scenery. Define the infrastructure you need, maintain it on a schedule you actually wrote down, and keep the records to prove it.
